In the last decade, Tech Prep high school enrollments have seen a 56% growth from 68,922 students enrolled in Tech Prep in the state of Texas for 1997-1998 (grades 9-12) to 156,430 students enrolled in Tech Prep in the state of Texas for 2007-2008 (grades 9-12).

Over half (1078) of the state's 1873 associate of applied science (AAS) degree programs are Tech Prep, articulated with one or more high school career and technical education programs. Of these programs, 115 (14.1%) are Information Technology, 142 (17.5%) are Health Science, and 160 (19.7%) are Business, Management, Administration, and 103 (12.7%) are Manufacturing.

These rates are higher than those for students who did not participate in Tech Prep programs.

There were 54,181 senior Tech Prep students in 2007-2008 in the state of Texas. There were over $45 million in potential equivalent tuition and fees saved by Tech Prep students in Texas and $44 million in potential contact hour reimbursement saved by the state of Texas totaling a potential savings of $89 million for the people of the state of Texas.
